PENNDOT's Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS):
Promises Congestion Relief in the Project Area - But PENNDOT's Proposed Actions Unlikely to Deliver Results

Back to Documents

The DEIS is the culmination of the research which justifies the Woodhaven Road Extension Project which was submitted to the Federal Highway Adminstration of the United States Department of Transportation. It was submitted on April 7, 2003.

  • It was submitted on the premise that PENNDOT's proposed actions would relieve congestion in the entire Project Area, including Byberry Road between Route 1 and Route 232.
  • Since PENNDOT's proposed actions include constructing an Extension of the Woodhaven Expressway into the area in which PENNDOT is charged with relieving congestion, it is accurate to state that PENNDOT will be increasing congestion - not relieving congestion - since they are increasing road capacity.
  • Scroll down to the grey box to read PENNDOT's claim that their proposed actions will relieve congestion.

In Our Opinion

  • This project will not deliver the promised results to all of the residents in the project area.
  • This project is discriminatory.
