Establishes Regional Traffic is Not a Factor and Does Not Carry the Weight It Originally Was Believed to Have

Page 4 of the Meeting Summary from the final work session between the TCC, SCA and PENNDOT. (Subsequent Work Sessions were cancelled on January 25, 2006.)

  • As PENNDOT has acknowledged by their answer to Question #1, regional traffic will not be using the new extension, and it was the need to separate regional and local traffic that was the reason to have the extension in the first place
  • As we have shown you in the previous document: "The Evaluation of Project Need", the purpose of the extension is to separate regional and local traffic. That need is gone.
  • It can be stated based on the information above, that the justification for the extension no longer exists and therefore, the extension is unwarranted & unjustifiable.
  • Scroll down to the grey box to verify that regional traffic will not be using the extension.

In Our Opinion

  • PENNDOT's wrecklessness will risk the health & safety of the homeowner's in the project area by pursuing actions (highway expansion) which will generate additional traffic volumes and increase congestion.
  • Any legislator who supports this extension supports a misuse of taxpayer's dollars and has failed to faithfully represent the best interests of their constituents.
  • The thought of constructing the Woodhaven Extension must be dismissed as a component of any build alternative and PENNDOT must seriously begin to address the congestion on Byberry Road.
